Free Readers - Our Story

Unlocking Potential Through Personalised Learning

At Free Readers, we believe every child has potential and it’s our mission to help them realise it. We offer compassionate, high-impact support in reading, English and maths for children aged 3½ to 11, helping them gain confidence, master skills, and fall in love with learning.

A Message from Our Founder

"It started with one child. My own."

I know what it feels like to worry if your child is falling behind or simply not being seen. Years ago, I stood where you are now. As a mother and educator, I saw firsthand how easily a child’s potential could go unnoticed in a crowded classroom. And I knew I had to do something.

That’s how Free Readers was born not as a business, but as a calling.

At Free Readers, we don’t just teach reading, maths, and English. We help children rediscover their confidence, ignite curiosity, and fall in love with learning again. Our students are aged 3½ to 11, and each one receives individualised, high-quality support whether they need a boost, a challenge, or a fresh start.

We use proven methods like Phono-Graphix and phonemic awareness to build strong early readers. Our lessons follow the UK National Curriculum, and our team closely tracks every child’s progress, adjusting with care when needed. But beyond the academics, we nurture the whole child encouraging creativity, empathy, and social growth.

The result?

  • Children who feel safe, valued, and proud of themselves.
  •  Children who walk in nervous… and walk out smiling.
  •  Children who can’t wait to come back.

As a parent, choosing the right support is a big decision. I want you to know we see your child. We honour their uniqueness. And we’ll walk alongside you every step of the way. Welcome to Free Readers. We’re so glad you found us.
