What to expect
Every Child Matters, every Journey is Unique
At Free Readers, we support children from nursery to Year 6, helping them grow in reading, maths and English no matter where they’re starting from.
Some of our students are high achievers who need extra challenge and stimulation beyond what school provides. Others are doing well and want to stay on track. Many come to us needing to catch up, rebuild confidence, and close learning gaps.
Whatever your child’s needs, we create a personalised path to help them succeed. Our goal is simple:
To help your child feel confident, capable and proud of their progress.
Because at Free Readers, we believe:
We only succeed when your child does.
The Free Readers Summer Learning Camp has three clear goals:
1. Motivating each child to raise their aspirations to reach their potential.
2. Encouraging independent learning in a supportive environment.
3. Making learning enjoyable, with our specially designed curriculum crafted
to meet identified needs of children and address skills gaps.
What can your child do at the Summer
Learning Camp?
We offer a range of subjects to suit the needs of your child and the goals you have for them.
Read & Write Course
Using the concept of phonemic awareness and the Phono-Graphix method, our Read and Write course (RW) provides explicit instruction and guided practice to help our children develop confidence and skill in reading.
Maths & English Course
This year, the top priority of the combined Maths and English course at Summer Learning Camp is to mitigate the impact of interrupted schooling due to isolation and quarantine. We aim to reteach concepts that were difficult to teach/grasp in these circumstances.
Exams & Assessments
4+, 5+, 7+ and 11+ entrance tests largely happen early in the Autumn term, so intending candidates should be prepared to begin as early as the first week of September, through to December. Exam candidates will face an intensive revision course.
Co-Curricular Activities
In addition to our focus on academic rigour and achievement, the Free Readers Summer Learning Camp will concentrate on physical and emotional wellbeing. This is crucial, in the light of recent events.
